Mapping the Story of Your Health
Trusting Your Body’s Wisdom
Just as your body heals a wound with a particular sequence of biochemical, physical and energetic responses, your body has an innate healing wisdom that addresses all healing in a specific order. This concept is essential in the BodyTalk balancing process to encourage the body’s ability to heal itself by the fastest means possible.
During a BodyTalk session, the practitioner relies on the guidance of your body to learn what needs addressing: This is accomplished through a form of neuromuscular biofeedback that allows the practitioner to gather information directly from your body. Using biofeedback, they not only locate the body’s imbalances and establish how to resolve them but also find the proper order in which they are to be addressed.
Clinical experience has shown that when the body is consulted in this way, the body generously provides the key to seeing the bigger picture of a health problem and all its causative factors.
Neuromuscular Biofeedback + Protocol Chart
BodyTalk’s use of neuromuscular biofeedback is an effective method for gathering all necessary information for the BodyTalk session. The scientific and philosophical explanation of its basis is quite extensive and beyond the scope of this website. However, here is a simplified description of the actual method. It is a gentle process requiring no equipment, tools or machinery, where the practitioner establishes a type of biomechanical communication relay with your body. This relay allows them to ask your body directly where its issues are, and in return, receive instant feedback responses through the body’s subtle muscle reflexes.
The BodyTalk® System has developed a protocol chart to use in conjunction with neuromuscular biofeedback. It is a flowchart that represents your entire body-mind complex and comprehensively covers all physical, mental, emotional and energetic factors found in your body. The chart also includes factors external to the body which have shaped you throughout your life, such as your interactions with the world and those in it. The chart is not exhaustive: Each topic expands further by linking to other specialised charts and knowledge. In its entirety, what the chart represents is the story of you and your life. View Chart.
The categories in the protocol chart are used to formulate a series of questions to ask your body. These questions focus your body’s conscious awareness on evaluating its health imbalances. The questions are precisely worded to require only a “yes” or “no” response. At that point, neuromuscular biofeedback plays its part: For each question asked, your body will respond by strengthening or weakening the muscles in your wrist and forearm, which the practitioner checks by gently lifting or moving your arm. The apparent strength or weakness in your arm communicates a decisive “yes” or “no” from your body.
Supported by the protocol chart, the practitioner methodically navigates through your entire body-mind complex, asking the body to highlight problematic areas. Where there is an imbalance, the body will indicate through neuromuscular biofeedback. The questioning process is intricate, systematic and exhaustive, and ingeniously designed to allow the practitioner to quickly and confidently take inventory of all imbalances that need addressing during that particular BodyTalk session.
Priority, Not the Problem
The neuromuscular biofeedback process also reveals what your body considers is a priority for healing. An obvious physical, mental or emotional symptom such as chronic pain in the knees or insomnia following a heartbreak, is not necessarily what the body wants to address first. There could be more pressing issues for the body to resolve.
Symptoms arise in a person because their state of balance is compromised. BodyTalk does not focus on addressing symptoms, specific conditions or diseases, or orchestrate a treatment according to a diagnostic opinion: This would be too limiting. Any interference by way of treating symptoms, without addressing the underlying root cause is only a compromise, often generating short-term relief and results.
BodyTalk Practitioners are guided by the body’s priorities for healing, allowing the body primary-directive over its healing process and the deciding of its treatment priorities.
Addressing what the body considers is a priority for healing is key to how BodyTalk renders such remarkable results for clients. Leveraging the concept of Priority has universal application in all health care. It allows practitioners to offer highly-personalised treatments that are guided entirely by the body’s innate healing wisdom – the ultimate triage system within the body.
